John Cooper Works fans are due to be spoilt for choice now that four MINI JCW versions have been introduced in Malaysia – joining the burgeoning local MINI lineup are the John Cooper Works Hatch, Coupe, Countryman and Paceman, all CBU models.

Common to all is a JCW aerodynamic kit as well as distinguishing red roof/mirror caps and bonnet stripes as exterior dress-up items, while inside, a Chrome Line interior is to be found, with Carbon Black colour line and piano black trim elements as well as Leather Lounge upholstery the various bits on call.

All four models also feature a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and a Radio MINI Visual Boost with 6.5-inch LCD display, as well as front sports seats in Diagonal Track JCW Carbon Black cloth trim with red contrast stitching.

Let’s start things off with the MINI John Cooper Works Hatch, which is priced at RM278,888. The 1.6 litre twin-scroll turbo engine develops 211 hp at 6,000 rpm and 260 Nm (280 Nm on overboost) betwen 1,750 to 5,500 rpm.


Paired to a six-speed automatic, the JCW Hatch has a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 6.7 seconds and a 236 km/h top speed. Kit includes 17-inch black Cross Spoke Challenge alloys, six airbags and a JCW sports leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Next, the MINI Coupe John Cooper Works, which goes for RM288,888. Power and torque output figures are identical to the Hatch, but the Coupe gets to the century a shade faster at 6.4 seconds and gets to 240 km/h. It’s shod with the same 17-inchers as the Hatch, and comes equipped with four airbags.

Number three on the list is the MINI Countryman John Cooper Works, priced at RM318,888. On this one, the 1.6 litre lump offers 218 hp at 6,000 rpm and 280 Nm of push (300 Nm on overboost) from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm. It takes seven seconds flat to get the JCW Countryman from standstill to 100 km/h, and it’ll get to 223 km/h before the speed tops out.

The ALL4 all-wheel drive Countryman JCW sits on 18-inch twin-spoke, burnished black alloys, and equipment includes a rear spoiler and roof rails.

Finally, the MINI Paceman John Cooper Works ALL4, which is priced at RM338,888. The car shares the same output numbers with the JCW Countryman, but has a maximum speed that’s a kilometre faster at 224 km/h, and it’s a tenth of a second quicker to the 100 km/h mark at 6.9 seconds. It sits on 19-inch black Cross Spoke Crusher wheels.

All prices are on-the-road without insurance, and the MINI JCWs come with a three-year or 50,000 km MINI Tender Loving Care package. So, if the JCW route works for you, there’s no shortage of bodystyles you can have that MINI in – surely, there’s one in here for you.

Here are the first official images of the most powerful road-going Peugeot ever ahead of its Goodwood debut in production form this weekend. Shown as a concept at last year’s Paris show, the Peugeot RCZ R packs a 1.6 litre THP unit tuned to give a considerable 260 hp.

Reports mention a six-speed manual, a Torsen limited-slip diff, plus uprated suspension and brakes, which is about as good as news can get. The sole interior photo reveals sculptured bucket seats with ‘R’ emblems on the headrests, black leather and Alcantara with contrasting red stitching throughout. The centre stack is dressed in a classy piano black finish.

Jaguar earlier promised to debut an F-Type-based design study at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, and this is it – the one-off Jaguar Project 7. The name is a direct nod to the company’s seven Le Mans triumphs between 1951 and 1990 – a British record (Bentley has six).

A lot of the Project 7’s bespoke elements – from the new rear fairing section that incorporates a rollover hoop behind the driver’s head to the bright blue paintwork – are reminiscent of one of Jaguar’s all-time greatest race car, the Le Mans-winning D-Type from the Fifties.

Other key design changes include a carbonfibre front splitter, side skirts, large rear diffuser and a fixed rear spoiler, giving the Project 7 a low, unified, muscular stance. The side louvres and bonnet vents are also carbonfibre, while the carbonfibre/aluminium wing mirrors draw inspiration from those on the C-X16 concept.

The windshield has been lowered, while a new nose design incorporates revised air intakes and headlights with gloss black surrounds instead of chrome. The roof system has been completely removed, and the car sits on 20-inch Blade forged-alloy wheels with carbonfibre inserts.

Inside, the Project 7 features a single composite bucket seat with racing harness that’s mounted 30 mm lower than a standard F-Type, meaning the driver sits a full 40 mm closer to the ground as the car’s ride height has been cut by another 10 mm. The passenger seat is replaced by a helmet holder, which carries matching blue paint and graphics.

More than just a one-off design study, the Project 7 is a fully-functional machine that will be driven at the Goodwood show. Power coming from Jaguar’s 5.0 litre supercharged V8 engine in 550 PS 680 Nm form – an increase of 55 PS and 55 Nm over the range-topping F-Type V8 S.

Been eyeing that F30 BMW 3 Series, but can’t quite bag the 320i? Well, here’s the one that should do the trick – it’s the entry-level 3er called the BMW 316i. The model joins the 320i, 320d Modern and 328i Luxury, as well as the recently announced 320d and 328i M Sport versions, in the line-up. There’s also the 335i and ActiveHybrid 3 in the F30 family, of course.


It’s also the sixth model to join BMW Malaysia’s locally-assembled model range, and is equipped with a 1.6 litre TwinPower Turbo four-pot with 135 hp and 220 Nm for output numbers – the mill is paired to an eight-speed auto ‘box. Performance figures include a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 9.2 seconds and a 210 km/h top speed.

There’s no accompanying features list, save to say that the likes of Eco Pro and a multitude of ConnectedDrive kit is on – included in the list are BMW Live and BMW TeleServices. Also on, Leather Dakota Black interior and upholstery, a 6.5-inch screen, USB and Bluetooth connectivity and iDrive. The website doesn’t even list the model yet, so can’t tell you what other kit it has.

What’s known is the exterior colour options, and Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, Glacier Silver and Mineral Grey are on the palette list. As for pricing, the 316i is priced at RM209,800, on-the-road without insurance, with BMW Service + Repair Inclusive (BS+RI).
